What began as a nationwide gathering to mark the second anniversary of the historic 2024 anti-tax demonstrations rapidly transformed into a localized referendum against the Speaker's political supremacy.

Gathering in the heart of Bungoma town, thousands of vocal demonstrators and civil society groups formally denounced the veteran lawmaker, throwing the region's established political order into absolute uncertainty.

In an official post-demonstration security briefing, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen confirmed that while security teams managed to maintain general order, police units arrested nine individuals in Bungoma County directly linked to road obstructions and malicious damage to property.
