“I Gladly Become the First Casualty” – Caleb Amisi Breaks Silence After ODM Strips Him of Senior National Role

Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has issued a bold and defiant statement following his removal from the powerful position of Deputy National Organising Secretary within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

The decision was reached during a decisive National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held in Mombasa, where senior party leadership reviewed internal structural matters and resolved to implement a sweeping reorganization affecting several national officials.

ODM Explains Why Caleb Amisi Was Removed

In an official letter signed by ODM Executive Director Oduor Ong’wen, the party anchored the move on constitutional grounds.

The communication referenced Article 92 of the ODM constitution, which prohibits members from holding more than one party office simultaneously. Amisi was recently elected as ODM Chairperson for Trans Nzoia County.

According to party officials, his elevation to the county chairmanship automatically rendered his national position vacant under ODM rules.

The party described the change as procedural, lawful, and consistent with its internal governance framework.

Caleb Amisi Rejects the Administrative Framing

However, Caleb Amisi has publicly challenged the explanation offered by the party leadership.

Taking to social media shortly after the announcement, the Saboti MP suggested the reshuffle goes beyond administrative compliance. His remarks hinted at deeper political undercurrents within ODM, particularly amid shifting alliances in Kenya’s evolving political landscape.

“I gladly become the first casualty. We shall not relent and history will judge us fairly. Kenya is in desperate need of a renaissance,” Amisi declared.

The statement has since sparked widespread debate among ODM supporters and political observers, with many interpreting it as a signal of internal friction within the Raila Odinga-led party.

Other Senior Leaders Also Affected

The NEC reshuffle did not only target Caleb Amisi.

Taita Taveta Senator Johnes Mwaruma and former councillor Kipkorir Menjo were also removed from their National Executive Committee roles during the same meeting.

ODM maintains that the leadership changes are part of broader institutional alignment ahead of future electoral cycles. Party insiders say the restructuring is meant to reinforce discipline, clarify leadership roles, and streamline decision-making.
