Immediate former Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has announced his first major political engagement following his removal from the powerful party position.
The Nairobi Senator signaled that he is moving forward with his political activities despite the dramatic leadership changes within the Raila Odinga-led party.
Sifuna to Hold Rally in Kitengela
Through his official social media platforms, Sifuna confirmed that he will meet supporters in Kitengela, Kajiado County, on Sunday, February 15.
The upcoming rally will mark his first public political gathering since he was ousted from the ODM Secretary General role a position he held for more than eight years.
Observers note that the announcement appears calculated to demonstrate political resilience and continued grassroots mobilization.
Key Political Figures Expected
Sources within opposition circles indicate that several high-profile leaders are expected to attend the Kitengela rally.
Among those anticipated are:
Siaya Governor James Orengo
Embakasi East MP Babu Owino
Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi
Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka
Saboti MP Caleb Amisi
The presence of these leaders could signal emerging alignments within ODM and the broader opposition movement.
Political Undertones After ODM Shake-Up
Sifuna’s rally comes days after a high-level National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Mombasa resolved to remove him from office.
While the party cited internal considerations in its decision, the former Secretary General has not publicly escalated the matter. Instead, his focus appears to be shifting toward grassroots political engagement.
Political analysts suggest the Kitengela meeting could serve as a barometer for Sifuna’s influence within ODM support bases following his ouster.
